What You Can Do
We are not powerless
Until now, thanks to multi-million dollar advertising budgets and a lack of research, AI companies have been able to sell their tools to schools without much pushback.
As local education budgets are being reduced, school administrators have been looking for ways to make growing classes more effective. Over-worked and under-paid teachers are also looking for things that might help them.
But as parents we can more involved and create the environment we want to see in schools.
-
Find out what your child is using
Ask your child about what tools they use at school, try it out for yourself at home.
-
Talk to other parents
Are other parents aware of what is being used at school? How do they feel about it?
-
Contact your representatives
Your local school board, member of parliament are likely unaware of the problems with AI.
-
Talk to your school
Show them the research that shows the negative effects of AI on children.
